Things College Students Say...

About two weeks ago or so, I overheard a conversation between two girls that made me want to simultaneously break down in a fit of laughter and smack my head against the wall in a fit of despair.

--
Girl 1: Hey I really liked the penguins at the exhibit at that aquarium we went to today!
Girl 2: Eh?  Penguins?  There weren't any penguins at that exhibit.  There were puffer fish though...
Girl 1: OH YEAH.  PUFFER FISH.  THAT'S WHAT I MEANT.

Me: *Speechless*
--

A little later in their conversation, I overheard another snippet that was just as...interesting as before, if not more.  I'm not sure who said what in terms of who I labeled Girl 1 and Girl 2 in the puffer fish/penguin conversation, but this is how it went...

--
Girl 1: Hey so I have blood type O-.
Girl 2: Oh, isn't that the rarest blood type?  Hm...no, wait it's AB!  No, no, it's OA!
Girl 1: Really? Does that exist?
Girl 2: I'm not sure.  Damn, I should know this.  I just volunteered at the blood drive today!

Me: /)__(\

...
Yeah.  #college

P.S. 1: I wasn't being creepy and listening in on their conversation from around the corner or anything.  I was showering and these girls were conversing in the stalls next to me.

P.S. 2: I just feel the need to point out that I go to an extremely reputable university.  I don't mean anything by it.  Just stating a fact.

P.S. 3: Oh hey!  Finally a post that isn't during the wee hours of the morn'! :D

Unboxing #2 - the GazettE's REMEMBER THE URGE -Optical Impression- and TOXIC [Limited Edition]

I like all kinds of music.  My friend affectionately gave me the title of "Music Whore" because of my eclectic tastes.  Er.  Yey?

Anywho, I am a huge fan of Jrock.  My friend introduced me to the GazettE in 2005/2006...around the time when they released Cassis.  After listening to the fantastic song, I started looking into their band history, appearances in shows, live performances, interviews, and, of course, the rest of their discography. ♥  The combination of their music/personalities/etc. really appealed to me and I started to follow their releases, interviews, and such more closely than before.  When I had the means (not really), I started to support them by purchasing their singles and albums.  And boy, does the Japanese music industry know how to get the most from their customers.  Most artists will release several different versions of their albums and singles.  For the GazettE, they always split their singles into two versions: an "-Auditory Impression-" version that includes the title track and two B-side tracks, and an "-Optical Impression-" version that includes the title track, one B-side, and a DVD containing the PV and making of the PV.  Their albums usually have a regular edition and a limited edition.  All in all, lots of money spent on buying their music, but well worth it.  I guess I should be grateful that they're not like some of the other bands/artists that release, like, five different versions of everything. ;~;

I only wish I could have started buying their merchandise earlier; I've missed out on a lot of music that's now out of print...=/  But if anyone happens to have a new copy of their limited edition NIL album...(and everything else...)  Just saying.  The packaging for that baby was BEAUTIFUL and the music from that album was awesome.  Meow.

Well, I didn't start taking pictures of the music I've ordered until super recently, and a part of me wishes I had, but it's all good.  Here are a few (heh) photos from when I ordered the GazettE's REMEMBER THE URGE -Optical Impression- single and the limited edition of TOXIC, their newest studio album.  (I had ordered the -Auditory Impression- of their single earlier.)  There was a deal on CDJapan; if you order the -Optical Impression- version of the single along with the limited edition of TOXIC, there would be a free tumbler gift with a picture of the boys featured in the cup. \o/

This thing was a MONSTER. ♥

Side view of MONSTER.

The box got a little messed up during shipping...the posters included in my order were creased.  Sad.

The green packaging paper characteristic of CDJapan greeted me when I first opened the box.  And yes.  That's my dinner on the table.

After peeling away the first layer, I was super excited to see my posters...then super sad when I discovered they were bent. D:

Lookie!  All the way at the bottom!

Another view.  Just because.

*.* Part 2—Love how the album comes with its own bag/slipcover.  Yes, that huge book is the album.

The tumbler!

A different angle of the box.

Yay!  More green paper!

As snug as a bug in a rug.

Yay!  Bubble wrap!

LET'S OPEN OPEN OPEN!

I like the white box that houses the tumbler.  It's glossy and sturdy.

A preview picture of what the boys look like on the tumbler.

葵 (Aoi) - Rhythm guitarist

れいた (Reita) - Bassist

ルキ(Ruki) - Vocalist; 戒 (Kai) - Drummer and leader

麗 (Uruha) - Lead guitarist

Meow. ♥

I didn't take any pictures of the contents of the single/album and most likely won't.  One, it's really hard to get good pictures of super glossy things.  And obviously, from the photos I've posted, photographer, I am not.  Two, taking those pictures would require me to actually open the booklets all the way, which will probably damage them.  I am absolutely CRAZY about these kinds of things.  Even though I've thumbed through the single and album a few times, I took special care to keep the booklet of the single and the spine of the album as tight as possible.  Yeah.  Anywho, the entire package was quite pricy.  I'd definitely venture as far as to say what I paid for it was overpriced.  But I couldn't resist the "free" posters and tumbler cup.  (On CDJapan, more often than not, the earliest buyers of certain products will get a free gift...usually a poster.)  My fangirl was well fed the day my order arrived. :D

Unboxing #1 - Brown Eyed Girls' Sixth Sense Repackaged Album

Eep.  Pictures of Brown Eyed Girls' Sixth Sense Repackaged album that I promised...three weeks ago. :D

I'll say this now...I am definitely not at all knowledgeable about Photoshop/any other manner of photo-editing witchcraft.  That being said, enjoy!  Please refer to THIS post for a more complete look at the album!

I love getting packages.

Looks cozy. :3

All bundled up!

Promotional SHINee Postcards x 5

It's gorgeous.  Love the velour-covered box.  *¬*

Side view!

Maybe I should've actually taken pictures of the contents too huh...^^''  That may come to pass sometime in the near future.  Well for now, I'll just list out what was inside the actual album...

-Four individual printed autographs and messages from the girls
-A double-sided poster
-A calendar that opens up like a book—individual pictures of the girls on the back of the months
-Hard case that contains both the CD and DVD (Region: All)
-Photo booklet

It really is a fantastic item to add to your music collection.  The music is great, the packaging is incredible, and the little extras included is like the whipped cream on top!  All in all, nothing less than what I expected from the Brown Eyed Girls.

Home, Sweet Home

It's really nice to be back home after two weeks!  School was rough for the first half of this week, but I got a package in the mail that helped to tide me over.  A genetics midterm on Monday, two quizzes on Tuesday (cognitive science and genetics AGAIN), and then a physics midterm on Wednesday.  Whew!  I don't think I did too well on my midterms; I need to really buckle down and spend some good hours studying for all my classes.  Thinking about the exams now, they really weren't as hard as they could have been, but since I didn't study too well for them, I'm fairly certain that I didn't perform as well as I could have.  I'll know for sure when I get the results back in a few days or so.

This week wasn't all bad.  Definitely not.  Wednesday evening, after my physics midterm, I got to see my cousin that I haven't seen in a while.  I received a text from her and she came over to my dorm and had a nice, lengthy chat before she had to leave for her meeting.  After that we had dinner together.  Now that she's living in the apartments instead of dorming, I hardly ever get to see her.  That, coupled with the fact that we're on totally opposite sides of campus means seeing each other like, maybe three times a quarter.  That was a nice surprise.

Anywho, the second good thing that happened was the arrival of my package!  I got an e-mail saying my packaged arrived, so I went to go pick it up.  Funny thing, because at the same time, my cousin was done with her meeting, so I decided to pick it up after dinner.  Anyway, A few days ago, I ordered Brown Eyed Girls' Sixth Sense Repackaged album.  For those who may be interested, the Brown Eyed Girls is a South Korean girl group.  They are all (ridiculously, extraordinarily, fantastically, etc.) talented, and I'm not just saying that because they are my favorite Kpop girl group.  Impressive vocals, damn impressive lives, and all that jazz.  Seriously.  They sound just as fantastic live as they do in the studio.  (Check the MR Removed videos on YouTube!)  Anywho, check them out and see for yourself.

Title track of the 4th album Sixth Sense: "Sixth Sense"
Title track of the Sixth Sense Repackaged album: "클렌징크림, (Cleansing Cream)

I bought the album at a discounted price.  Sales~! ♥ The packaging was absolutely INCREDIBLE and the extras that the album came with were also super nice! *¬*  I'll post pictures of the album in an upcoming post.  It's too fantastic to not. :P

But regarding the discounted prince...there was a fantastic sale that was going on that day.  I believe Kpop Heaven is relatively new to the online music business, so I was a little twitchy about ordering from them, but after receiving my order, I can say that I'm satisfied with the packaging of the album, the shipping and delivery speed, the price...and of course the 25% off deal they had for the merchandise in honor of Lunar New Year. \o/

Something Old, Something New

An honest attempt at doing something sort of old, but something sort of new...

I've tried blogging a few years ago via Xanga, albeit rather inconsistently for about four years.  The last time I wrote anything in there was early 2009.  Looking back and reading my old blogs...all I can really say is either yikes, that was really badly written, or wow, I wrote that?  Er.  Trite, juvenile, and whiny...I think that about covers it.

But recently, for some reason or other, the idea of blogging has sparked my interest again.  I'd like this blog to better reflect upon who I am than my previous one did.  I'm a quirky person and I find that in public, I tend to shy away from "acting like myself"...for lack of a better phrase.  With that, I've titled myself/the blog Entitatis—Latin for entity.  At this point, I would like to apologize to any Latin speakers that may have somehow come across my little, secluded corner of the 'net.  I hope I haven't used Entitatis improperly, but if I've butchered the word, please accept my humblest apologies!  (And tell me how to use it properly!)

I think the reason behind using a word that means entity to refer to myself/this blog is something that's quite easy to grasp.  Everyone has a side that's always hidden from the public eye.  I'm fairly certain that I'm not the only one who recognizes this to be true.  This blog is essentially a physical representation of my "inner entity", and the words contained within, the thoughts and musings of said creature.

That being said, welcome to Entitatis.
